Elizabeth Powel’s Republic of Letters | Creator
Digital project created with Palladio to show the broad social network of Elizabeth Willing Powel, a powerful political figure in 18th century Philadelphia. This project maps the locations of 500 letters,written
to or from Elizabeth, and the gallery feature to show the range of individuals she corresponded with.
Omeka exhibit tracing the gift giving practices of Elizabeth Willing Powel, throughout the late 18th and early 19th century. This project uses both primary sources within the personal papers of the Powel family as well as images of objects either once owned by Powel, or objects of a similar style.
